Shimako Toudou (藤堂 志摩子 Tōdō Shimako) is one of the the classmates of Yumi Fukuzawa at the beginning of the series, and is in the same year as her and Yoshino Shimazu. She is the grande sœur of Noriko Nijou, and the petite sœur of Sei Satou.

Shimako is the only child of a Buddhist family, who runs a temple on the outskirts of Tokyo. Wanting to become a nun in the future, Shimako thinks of her origins as a source of shame and almost guilt for someone who attends a Catholic school, and manages to keep them a secret from most of her school mates in order not to incur in what she feels would be general desapprobation. For a good part of the series, it is probable that only the third- and second-year members of the Yamayurikai know about her secret, before Sachiko Ogasawara and Rei Hasekura find a mean to reveal the matter to everyone and thus to relieve Shimako from her burden. Shimako is somewhat an exception in the student body for another reason: she has refused Sachiko's soeur proposal and has accepted Sei Satou's, to whom she is strongly, if not much openly, attached, when Sei was already in her third year: thus, not only she is to become a soeur-less student when her grande soeur graduates, but she is also supposed to hold the position of Rosa Gigantea during her second year, that is, one year earlier than it is expected. Shimako herself has doubts about the issue, but eventually accepts to run for it and is confirmed as part of the Yamayurikai staff, showing high competence and earnestness in her work after she takes charge. In the meantime, after going through a period of utter depression following Sei's graduation, she meets Noriko Nijou, who ends up becoming her petite soeur.
